Photo: @kdriedge "How bad ass was my grandma." #nodamway #mypeaceriver This old photo is of Colleen McCrory, founder of the Valhalla Wilderness Society . It was likely taken in the West Kootenays, but still rings true today in the Peace River valley.

It's interesting, BC Hydro sponsors this conservation area...it's down in the valley just on the way to Hudson's Hope, it's an important wetland for birds, and would be flooded by proposed Site C. So frustrating." ‪#‎mypeaceriver‬
The martian-like haze that has settled over the province these past couple days reminds me of this fiery photo of the Peace Valley by Samara Giesbrecht. ‪#‎mypeaceriver‬

The day concluded with feasting & hand games. Tomorrow I am to serve as one of the guides to a visiting team of scientists here to blitz the Peace. Happy solstice everyone!" #mypeaceriver

BAN THE DAMS You Turkeys! This might just be My Peace River's new favourite photo ... But we don't know who these kids are or when the dam photo was taken! Can anyone help solve the mystery? Thanks to Lindsay Pratt for sharing this gem. **UPDATE**    Mystery solved!  Says Cindy Anderson: "I recognize this. Ron Anderson, Cindy Anderson, Donna Anderson, Heather Scriven (Brookes), and Alison Brookes. I'm guessing it's taken about 1975. My step dad, Ray Brookes, was involved with Peace River Environmental Society. The community had been lobbying against Site C for a long time."
